A relationship between siblings is defined by long A relationship between siblings is defined by longevity. It is one of the most important relationships you can have with someone; a perpetual existence that binds you together not just through genes, but a lifetime of shared connections. It is through these experiences that we develop emotional bonds and mutual compassion, learning the importance of sharing, patience and having forgiveness along the way. We lift each other up when it’s needed. We sometimes argue, and sometimes cry together. We almost always laugh. We conspire against the world with unconditional love and loyalty. Because that's what being someone's sibling means to me.

So, dearest Sal. On this very special 'big' birthday that shall remain numberless, can I remind myself how lucky I am to have you as my big sister? Thank you for taking care of me and protecting me when I needed it most. For all the sacrifices you made and the things you missed out on so I wouldn't. Thank you. We may not be as cute or innocent as we were back in 1979 when this first image was taken. We may have both gotten a little grey (and bald in my case), and a tad bit squidgy around the edges, but we're still here, together. Happy Birthday. I love you very much ❤️

The beach is my happy place. Although judging by m The beach is my happy place. Although judging by my look in this photo, you would never guess that. I grew up in Australia, where beach culture is a ubiquitous part of everyday life and is engrained in my fabric. Part of a nomadic family meant spending much of my formative years in Cyprus, where this being the Med, you were never more than a few minutes away from a sandy beach (and a good excuse to skip class!). Catching rays and that sun-kissed feeling of being absorbed by the sun. Hitting the water when it all gets to be too much. Letting the waves wash over all your doubts and ailments. Golden, powdery sand between your toes. Being reborn. There’s really no feeling like it. So thank you Mauritius for the new memories added to my vault of beach mementos. You’ve been an amazing host ❤️.
